Terms of Service
Last updated: May 19, 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
By submitting a severance report, browsing reports, or otherwise using ExitBase, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use ExitBase.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use ExitBase. If your local law sets a higher minimum age for online services, you must meet that age. You must not be barred from using the service under applicable law. To submit a severance report, you must be (or have been) the actual recipient of the package you describe — second-hand reports, fabricated reports, and reports about other people are not allowed.
3. Submissions
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit. Do not knowingly post false, exaggerated, or fabricated severance terms — the value of the dataset depends on it.
- Do not include other people's personal information (coworkers' names, manager identities, internal identifiers, etc.) in free-text notes or attached documents unless you have the right to share them.
- If you attach an offer letter or separation agreement, you represent that you have the right to share it with us for verification purposes and that doing so does not breach any confidentiality obligation you cannot lawfully waive.
- The submit form defaults to anonymous. If you provide a contact email, you consent to us using it to follow up about your submission.
- You can ask us to remove a report or attached document you submitted. Because submissions are anonymous by default, we don't automatically know which report is yours — we'll ask you to share details only the original submitter would know before we act on the request. See our Privacy Policy for the full process.
4. Acceptable use
The following are not allowed on ExitBase — in report fields, free-text notes, attached documents, or any other content you submit:
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content that targets people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristic.
- Doxxing, sharing other people's private information without consent, or impersonating someone else, including misrepresenting which company or role a report is about.
- Content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or other legal rights.
- Spam, scams, malware, phishing, automated abuse, or attempts to scrape, overload, or compromise the service.
- Unauthorized commercial activity, including soliciting payments outside of features that ExitBase officially provides.
- Submitting fabricated severance terms, or attempting to skew aggregate statistics through duplicate or coordinated submissions.
We may remove content, suspend access, or block submitters that violate these rules, with or without notice.
5. Anonymity
- Reports are published without any identifier tying them to a person. Attached documents and any contact email you provide are kept private and used internally for verification and follow-up only.
- Anonymity does not change your responsibility for the content you submit — these terms still apply.
- Do not put information into a public report field that you do not want to be public. Treat anything you enter into the submit form (other than the contact email and attached documents) as published.
6. User content and license
You retain ownership of the reports, notes, and uploads (such as offer letters or separation agreements) that you submit to ExitBase (“Your Content”). To run the service you grant ExitBase a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, reformat, and aggregate Your Content — and to derive de-identified statistics from it — as needed to operate, secure, promote, and improve the service. This license ends when you delete the content, except for residual copies retained for backups, audit, or legal compliance, and except for de-identified aggregate statistics already derived from Your Content.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit Your Content and to grant the license above, and that Your Content does not violate any law or these terms.
7. No legal, tax, or financial advice
ExitBase publishes crowdsourced data and is not a law firm, accounting firm, or financial advisor. Information on the site is for general informational purposes only and is not legal, tax, employment, or financial advice. Severance terms vary by jurisdiction, employer, and individual circumstances — consult a qualified professional before acting on anything you read on ExitBase.
8. Service availability
ExitBase is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We don't guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, including taking reports offline for maintenance, abuse investigation, or legal reasons.
9. Termination
You may stop using ExitBase at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access — including removing reports you have submitted — if we believe you have violated these terms or if your continued use creates risk for us, other users, or third parties. After termination the sections of these terms that should reasonably survive (for example, ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will remain in effect.
10. Disclaimers
ExitBase is a platform for user-submitted data. We do not verify every report, and we do not endorse and are not responsible for what users submit. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ExitBase disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and the accuracy or completeness of the data displayed on the site.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ExitBase and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service or any reliance on data published on it. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to USD 100 or the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify ExitBase against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising under these terms will be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the product or by email. Continuing to use ExitBase after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through our contact page. See also our Privacy Policy.
